FINAL REFLECTION

I have not revised any of my composing yet in this course because I was satisfied with my grade. One thing that I always do before I submit any large body of work is that I copy and paste the work I have done into a spell checker website called Grammarly. From there, the website underlines and points out any incorrect spelling or grammar and then I go through each error and correct them. Sometimes it gives me a notification that there was an error in places where I actually want to keep them the same for example with my last name, the spell checker always says that it is a spelling error when it is not. So after I have corrected all of the blatant errors, I copy and paste it back into the word online document and then the revision process is over and the body of work is ready to be submitted. I did revise my e-portfolio to make It easier to read and to make it look more presentable. The reason that I did this is because I was informed that a certain section of my article under the project two tab was not easy to read. It was important to make sure that the reader of my e-portfolio could read my projects, journals, and reflections with ease because no one can assess or take in any of my work if it is unclear what it is that I am trying to get across to the audience. I decided to make each heading stand out on my e-portfolio because I wanted it to show a shift in the subject matter. I also carefully went over the pictures on the wix site that were made available for me to use as a background photo of the page I was composing on. For each project I sifted through many pictures to find the right one to fit each projects theme; whether that was personal, professional, or showcased my interests. Many times I found myself re-adjusting the background photo to make sure that it didn’t interfere with the text on the page so that it was still readable as well as cropping the photo itself or moving it around to include the best part of the pictures on the page. For example, when I chose a picture of a basketball hoop and a basketball on a court to be the background for my NBA-themed project page I was forced to reshape and readjust the image so that the basketball and basketball hoop were included on the page. In this class, I learned more about the peer workshopping process and how that would look in a classroom or academic setting. I also experienced an online peer workshop for the first time and learned about how different forms of them could work in an online or digital setting. I also discovered because of this class that I am capable of taking down large word counts and not only meeting the requirement, but also receiving a good grade for what I have done. I also created the foundation for my reflective process as a writer when I was forced to reflect upon each assignment that I completed throughout this course. I learned new techniques for getting to deeper levels of reflection in different contexts and rhetorical situations. I also learned a great deal about composing in general. I learned that there are so many different forms of composing that I was unaware of and almost anything could be considered  composition; whether that is a conversation, audio file, visual arts performance, journaling, organizing, or any other time where the composer makes conscious decisions to fit in line with certain genre conventions. I also learned about what makes a genre and what a rhetorical situation is. This goes along with the three different appeals; ethos, logos, and pathos. Another thing I learned about is how important that my own compositions are and how they actually say a lot about me as a composer. I haven't really viewed myself as a composer before this I took this class, but I would definitely say that I feel more confident as a writer now that I have. In the future, I can build upon the skills and techniques to keep in mind as a writer and I believe that it will only help me to write more appropriately in different contexts. I have also learned that it is not only good to do so, but it is encouraged to research the genre conventions of whatever genre it is that you are looking to fit in line with or whatever audience you are looking to appeal to as a composer. I have discovered my identity as a composer through this class and I will continue to build upon that in future contexts. My ideas about writing have changed as I now feel more capable to comfortably compose in whatever context that is presented to me in the future. I feel as if my best project is my first project because I understood and felt the most comfortable with the topic as I was reflecting on my past compositions to see who I am as a composer. I feel like that context has the least amount of pressure and the most room for self assessment because it is so personal that I am the most familiar with it and I can write the most clearly and focused. I can’t even choose my worst project because I feel like I enjoyed making each one so it is hard to choose one that is my worst. If I had to choose one, I would just choose the project with the lowest grade to be my worst project.  If I had another week to revise, I would only focus on my e-portfolio to ensure that it looked appealing and professional. I could clean it up a little bit to make it look like an actual website to where more people would be inclined to visit the webpage and share or benefit from it.
